"SEO, SEO, SEO, SEO, you have to learn how to properly use keywords. It is not as simple as installing Yoast and turning all the lights green; you have to know which keywords to use correctly in order for a tool like Yoast to even be kind of helpful."

Discussed in this episode...

Page views = Money

So how much money can you make from ads? This is directly related to page views, but the sky is really the limit. Depending on your page views and the ad network you're part of, you can make anywhere from $20 to over $10,000 a month. (Yes, you read that right.) The size of your audience, your page views each month, the number of ads you have per page, the demographic of your readership, performance, all combined will relate to how much you're getting page.

Ad companies to look into

Google AdSense

A lot of bloggers will immediately try to install this on their site as fast as they can, because they think that's how they should be monetizing. And we're just going to say, don't do it. It's just not worth it! They literally pay in pennies, it's going to slow down your website, it's going to slow down your user experience, and it's just not worth it. If you don't have enough page views to get on to a bigger ad company, we have a better idea for you! Just keep reading!

Ezoic - requires 10,000 page views

SheMedia - requires 20,000 page views

MediaVine - requires 50,000 sessions

AdThrive - requires 100,000 page views

How can we up our page views?

SEO!

You have to learn how to properly use keywords. It is not as simple as installing Yoast and turning all the lights green; you have to know which keywords to use correctly. Our favorite tool for this is Keysearch!

Blogging Consistently

You want to be regularly releasing evergreen content. This can be seasonal evergreen content, but it has to be content that can be shared year after year.

Pinterest

The game with Pinterest is also keywords. You have to use correct keywords in order for your pins to get seen and clicked on. Our Pinterest go-to gal is Natalie Bardot, and her recommendation is to start with one fresh pin a day. That means one brand new design that links to a blog post (it can be an old blog post or a new blog post) that has never been on Pinterest before with that particular image. You can make this an idea pin, video, image, whatever you want!

Send Visitors Somewhere

Whether you're sending people from your email list to your blog, or from social media to your blog, or from Google web stories, everything should link. This will help with your SEO and your site domain authority.
