Thrive is all about helping other small businesses build their audience! Every year, we support a non-profit at our conference to help grow their audience and gain more support for their cause.
Last year, we supported Kurandza, a non-profit organization that helps assist the women of Mozambique by providing education and other opportunities to empower the women to become leaders in their villages and to helps educate others in their community.
Mozambique is located in Southeast Africa. The local language of Mozambique is Changana. Kurandza means “to love” in Changana.
Behind Kurandza are Elisabetta Colabianchi and Percina Miocha. Elisabetta lived and worked in Mozambique as a Peace Corps Volunteer for three years. Elisabetta created Kurandza in the fall of 2014 alongside Percina to continue supporting Mozambique.
Percina is from Mozambique’s capital, Maputo, and is currently living in Mozambique as the country director of Kurandza.
While living in Mozambique, Elisabetta counseled HIV-positive women on preventing HIV transmission to their children. She felt inspired to help these women in their journeys beyond her time in the country.
Kurandza’s annual #IStandForGirls campaign launches on September 1st! Kurandza will be working to build a launch team of women who can spread the word of their mission on social media throughout the month of September.
Their #IStandForGirls campaign works to raise funds to provide school sponsorships for the girls of Mozambique. This campaign did very well last year, raising scholarship funds for over 100 girls. This year, their goal is to raise scholarship funds for over 200 girls!
Their goal is obtainable, but only with your help and support! This campaign helps girls achieve dreams that they might not be able to without your help!
If you would like to help Kurandza out, you can join their #IStandForGirls campaign by visiting their website, https://www.kurandza.org/istandforgirls.
