What I learned from one Instagram Reel completely changed how I approach content. In this episode, I break down three key takeaways from a recent Instagram Reel I posted—lessons that apply to any type of content, not just Reels. If you’ve ever felt stuck, inconsistent, or like everyone else is just better at content creation, this one’s for you.

[00:00:00] I recently did an Instagram post. It was a reel, and I learned a few things from it, and so I wanted to share those with you guys today because the things that I learned, I think are. Are there things that we can apply across the board with the content that we are creating? And there were some good reminders for me.
[00:00:25] So there are three things that I'm sharing, and the first one is introduce yourself again. Your audience needs to know who you are, and it's also going to be good for anybody that is new. So maybe this is on social media, maybe this is in an email, a YouTube, whatever it may be. Introduce yourself again, but I want you to do it in a way that is applicable to your audience.
[00:00:55] We are inherently. Selfish people. I guess we're always, anytime we are consuming content of any kind, we are viewing it through our own lens and how it applies to us, and if applies to us and if it resonates with us, then we're going to be intrigued. We're going to want to read more. We're going to want to keep watching.
[00:01:21] Right? This is just. Human nature. And so as content creators, that is something that we have to really consider. And this is where some of that strategy comes into play with social media, with content creation, it, it becomes this really interesting thing where you can easily fall into this place, and I have been there many, many a times and have to pull myself out and remind myself.
[00:01:48] Of thinking, oh, it just comes so easy for them. It comes so naturally for them. They just created this and it probably took them 20 minutes and it's beautiful and it's so easy for them. And man, that is just not the case. And that is something that we, me, I project onto content creation. And so I'm, I'm saying all of this because it's important for us to find different ways to connect with our audience and.
[00:02:17] I think that the ones that are finding success online right now are really putting some strategic thought into how they're approaching things, how they're editing things, how they're talking to their audience. So as you're introducing yourself to your audience, again, you want to share it in a way that is applicable to them.
[00:02:37] And that leads me to number two. The second thing that I learned was that I need to get even more personal. In my Instagram reel, I shared kind of this list of different things about me and at the beginning I shared a couple that were like a little bit of a, I guess a hook, but very like eye catching and wait.
[00:02:58] I. Like, wait, what? Um, and so the very first thing that I shared in that list was that I basically grew up in a religious cult. Um, it wasn't a cult, but it in its own way, it, it is a cult. And so that is something I shared right at the beginning and shared a couple of other like. Maybe not necessarily vulnerable things, but kind of like things I don't necessarily talk about, like getting fired from my job and then a few years later.
[00:03:30] Creating a six figure business. Just different things that I don't talk about regularly, and I was amazed by so many people commenting on that. People that I have coached for over a year being like, Bria, I had no idea. So this is your reminder to get more personal with your audience. The third thing that I learned, and you maybe already know this, it's, I think it's something that I just kind of was like, eh, I don't know if that's true or not, but.
[00:03:56] There was multiple things that made this reel successful, but one thing that I did on this reel was I engaged and was active on the app before I posted and after I posted again, I don't know if that's a myth. I don't know if it's true or not, but I had a lot of engagement very quickly on this reel. Now, this didn't get hundreds of thousands of views.
[00:04:17] I think I, you know, hit a couple thousand, but. For somebody who does not post super consistently right now over there, it took off a lot faster and hit my audience's feeds a lot faster than other ones have. So those are the three things that I learned. Let me know on Instagram, on my email, whatever. I would love to hear, you know, if you try any of these out, how it works for you.
