[00:00:00] Welcome back, my friends. I have gotten questions multiple times lately inside of shift where I do coaching and. It has been about how to set up a tripwire. What is a tripwire? How do I actually make money by growing my email list? How do I do it passively? Is that possible? And so I was like, you know what?
[00:00:25] I think it's time to pull an episode from the archives. And bring it back to the front. So this is from episode two 38, how to set up a trip wire for email. So if you want to start making money by sharing your freebies, you need to set this up. This is a five minute episode that I highly recommend you listen to and share with a friend.
[00:00:47] So let's dive in.
[00:00:52] We've talked about. What I would personally do if I had to start over and in episode one I shared the steps that I would make To start making money quickly and to start growing my brand episode 2 I shared Should you sell a digital product? I answered that question and gave you a whole bunch of ideas for not only selling digital products and what those could possibly be but also for some ideas for Your opt ins in this episode.
[00:01:20] I'm going to talk quickly about how to set up a trip wire. A trip wire happens whenever somebody signs up for your opt in or your freebie, whatever you want to call it. So let's say they go and they find your form or they utilize your code on many chat and they type that into Instagram and they fill out the form to get your freebie.
[00:01:44] What happens next is, as you have noticed when you're setting this up, or you will notice if you are just now setting one of these up, is that your email provider, so let's say Flowdesk, for example, will then ask you what page do you want to send them to? Do you want to send them to A success page, um, just that's a generic one that says, cool, you're, you're all done.
[00:02:08] Or do you want to send them to a custom page? What you're going to do is you're going to send them to a custom page and we're going to have a tripwire here. So the tripwire is basically setting up that custom thank you page and that's what it is. So you're going to create a page that says, thank you so much.
[00:02:25] Check your inbox. You've got your freebie ready to go and waiting for you. But before you go, if you downloaded this guide for free, I think you're really going to love this thing. That costs a little bit of money. Maybe it's a nine dollar product that you came up with, right? That is our tripwire. It's something that happens automatically.
[00:02:48] Whenever they fill out the form, they're sent to this page that says thank you, but before you go, I think you're gonna like this. And that's it. That's all you have to do. It's very quick and simple to set up, especially if you're using something like flow desks. Okay? So what you're gonna do is you're going to need to get your checkout set up and you want it to be as easy as possible for them to make a sale.
[00:03:10] So as you're going through and setting this up, just keep thinking. Less clicks is going to equal more sales. So if they have to click on less pages to check out. They are more likely to purchase from you. So that's one thing I want you guys to keep in mind. Tools that you can use for this. Flowdesk is one of them.
[00:03:30] They have a checkout system built in that you can purchase and add onto your subscription. Another option would be something like BuyMeACoffee. That's literally what it's called. That's what the tool is called. BuyMeACoffee. com. Um, or something like SampCart where you can have a checkout with them. So there's a bunch of options.
[00:03:53] Those are a couple that I like and I think are really easy to use. That's what a tripwire is and how to set it up. It's really easy. It's instead of just sending them to a very generic page or not even a page at all. After they signed up for your opt in, you want to create a cute landing page that says, thanks so much.
[00:04:11] Here's the next thing that I think you would really like. I like to set these up on my website by just creating a very simple blank page. So a full blank page on my website on your blog that doesn't have anything else on it, not even your logo. Create text on there that says, thank you so much. And then right there below it, you can say, before you go, here's what I think you would like embed your code from one of these places like Sam cart and drop it right there for them to make the purchase or.
[00:04:46] What you can also do is just say thank you so much before you go. I think you would like this. Put a picture of what it is, like a cute little mock up. Say what the title it is and have a little button that says click me to buy. Then send them to the checkout page that has a little bit of information and the immediate checkout.
[00:05:03] So then it's only one click to get to checkout. Have them fill the information out on that page. And check out done few clicks and you're making some money.
