Making Money as a Blogger or Influencer in 2024

If you're ready to take your blog and role as a content creator seriously in 2024 and step into an influencer role, it's time to review your basics to set you up for success. Let's look through what these basics include and how you can make money as a blogger, content creator, or influencer in 2024.

Know Your Niche

Whether or not you're just starting out in content creation, it's important to know your niche. Not only know who they are, but you should be passionate about them. The more specific your niche, the more targeted your audience will be.

Most of the big content creators that we look up to had to niche down before they got to where they are now. When you refocus on your niche, it'll make your job a lot easier.

Build a Strong Online Presence

Of course when we are building a career as a content creator, it's important to show up in two primary places:

  1. Blog: When you create a blog with quality content, you can utilize SEO strategies to increase visibility, while also housing all of your valuable content in a searchable way for your audience to reference.
  2. Social Media: In addition to your blog, it's important to be on a public social platform (I recommend two) in order to connect with your audience.

Engage Your Audience

Regularly interacting with your followers through comments, live sessions, and by responding to their comments will allow your audience to feel seen. An engaged audience is more loyal and attractive to brands (specifically for brand deals).

We're going to continue to see your engagement rate play a huge role in how much you can get paid by brands—I predict that this is going to become more and more crucial.

Monetize Your Blog and Social Media

While there isn't too much that is changing in 2024 for monetization, where I do see a shift is in your creativity. You have the opportunity to find what you're passionate about and explore your own creativity. When you're the creative driving force behind the ideas you bring to like and pitch, you become the indispensable piece of your brand.

Your creativity will also be a big factor in what you're pitching to brands and how you're standing out when you're exploring packages and deals. Here are a few of the ways you can explore monetization in 2024:

  • Advertising
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Sponsored Content
  • Product Sales
  • Subscriptions & Paid Memberships

Diversify Your Income Streams

When it comes to picking your income streams, try not to rely solely on one source of income. When you diversify, the more stable your financial situation will be.

Utilize Analytics

Regularly check your analytics to understand what content works best for your audience in order to tailor your content strategy to match what your audience wants. Most people don't do this, but the ones that are will find success in 2024.

Network and Collaborate

Networking with other bloggers and influencers can open up opportunities for collaborations and cross-promotions. We use to see so much of this back in 2020 and prior, and it has fizzled out a bit. I don't know why, because it helped so many brands grow like crazy. I predict we're going to get back to this more.

Consistency is Key

While we hear that consistency is key all the time, it's so true. When you regularly produce and share content, you'll keep your audience engaged while attracting new followers.
