[00:00:00] Welcome to the Thrive Podcast, where we believe creators deserve more, more money, more freedom, and even more love for what they do. I'm Bree p, your coach for content creators. And I know the struggle, the long hours, the endless ideas, the feeling that success is just out of reach. But here's the truth.

[00:00:24] You've got what it takes. And this podcast, it's your shortcut to getting there from strategies that actually work to behind the scenes insights. We are unlocking your potential one episode at a time. So if you're ready to turn your creative hustle into a thriving business, let's get started.

[00:00:46] Do you feel like you're doing all the things? You're posting, you are emailing, you're checking all of the boxes. So why does it still feel like nothing's working? This one's for the creators who are consistent but not growing consistency. Is necessary. I'm not gonna tell you otherwise, but it is not a strategy because when we show up without direction, it's just noise.

[00:01:18] And that's the last thing we wanna do is just add more noise out into the internet. So let's talk about how we get. Unstuck how we continue showing up, how we start to see true results and some metrics and things that we can look at to identify what the problem is. So I feel like there's this myth that consistency is going to make you win the game.

[00:01:48] And the truth is that consistency alone is not going to equal growth. I don't know how many times we have heard just be consistent, right? So many times it's literally tattooed in our brains at this point. But let's be real. If we are consistent without clarity, it is going to lead to burnout, not breakthroughs.

[00:02:09] Now consistency is going to build trust with our audience. Absolutely. But just because we have trust with our audience, it doesn't necessarily equal traffic growth, our bank account being happy. Right. Sometimes it's just. Posting. So let's talk about why doing more won't always get you out of a rut. And I'm sure you're feeling that, right?

[00:02:33] You're like, I keep posting, I keep posting, but I'm still stuck. Things aren't happening how I want them to happen. And the thing is, this industry is going to make you believe that is something is not working. The answer is to do more. Right. Create more content post more frequently, post on more platforms, more effort.

[00:02:55] More, more, more. You want another reason for that? The platforms we're posting on make more money. The more that we post Instagram, Facebook, Google, every platform makes more money the more content we are cranking out. So imagine that. They want us to post more, not necessarily because it is for our benefit, but it is going to make them more money.

[00:03:26] So if we follow the money, it always has the answer. Funny how that happens, right? So they have created this issue for us, and even this issue that may not truly be a problem, but it is one that we default to that I just have to do more. But sometimes more is the problem. So what we need to do is instead of asking ourselves, okay, you know, this isn't really working, what else can I do?

[00:03:57] Let's ask ourselves what's actually working. Because there is something that is, and what is just noise? So there are three things that I look at whenever a client feels stuck. So let's walk through those together and I want you to dissect these things for yourself. So this would be a great time to pull up those show notes for later or to write down some of this as you can.

[00:04:26] So the first thing is messaging. We look at their messaging. Is it landing? Do people know what you do and why they should care? Right. It's, we are in a very, yes, oversaturated, overstimulated online space and everything that we are putting out, every single piece of content that anyone sees you as well. Me as well, we're looking at how does this benefit me?

[00:04:56] How does this relate to me? Right? Does this make me laugh? Does this make me think, does this teach me something? Does this inspire me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Right? So your audience. If they're going to stick around, the messaging has to land. They have to be able to see themselves in your content. So that's what you need to look at for messaging.

[00:05:16] Is it landing? Look at what you're putting out. Look at the ones that are performing well. Why are they performing well? Why are they resonating with your audience? Look at your bios. Look at your about me pages. Look at everything across the board and make sure that it is very, very clear. That your audience knows that this is the place for them.

[00:05:41] I get in this same problem. I just assume, and I will assume myself into a problem where I'm having to go through and revamp an entire page for the messaging because it did not land. This is something I'm currently working on today, so it's very real for me because I made too many assumptions about what my audience, about what you guys knew.

[00:06:04] And anybody new that is just now following me is kind of jumping into like the middle of my story, in the middle of coaching, in the middle of these things that I offer and teach. And they're like, wait, hold on. I just need to know who you are and why I should trust you. And I'm completely skipping over that part because.

[00:06:25] I've been doing this for years and years and years, so it's really easy for us to miss some really key messaging that is going to make a huge impact. And yeah, it can sometimes feel redundant or it can feel like, oh my God, I, everybody knows this already, but the truth of the matter is they don't. So that's the first thing that I look at is messaging.

[00:06:47] The second thing is content pillars. Is there enough variety in your content to attract the audience? I. You want. So attracting followers. Yes. Attracting growth, yes. But then also, are you wanting to work with brands? Is the content that you are putting out going to attract brands? This is something that I was working through with a client this week inside of Shift.

[00:07:13] She was posting content that was very. Highly focused for affiliate sales, and it was doing very well for affiliate sales. The problem was she wanted to branch out and she wants to start getting brand deals. She doesn't want to just be stuck in one lane for her revenue streams. She wants to at least have two, and right now she just has one affiliates.

[00:07:38] When I went over and looked through her content with her. Went over to Instagram, went over to all the places that she's posting. Everything she is posting right now is geared towards affiliate sales and to the point to where brands are going to look at her content and not see how they fit in, or if they did.

[00:08:02] Partner with her because she has a great following. She has a great engagement. The real or the piece of content that she might create for that brand is going to come out of left field. It is going to be something completely different than what her audience is used to seeing. So it is most likely not going to land in the way that they need it to.

[00:08:22] So look at. The variety of content that you are creating. Look at, is it attracting the people that you want to? Are you using those keywords? Are you targeting and speaking their language? Are you creating variety? So that way you're able to hit your goals no matter what they are. So if it's audience growth, you need to do certain things.

[00:08:43] If it's brands and awareness, you need to do other things, right? If it is digital product sales, you gotta do something else, right? So it's different for every person. That is something that I probably don't talk enough about is that being a content creator looks different for every single person. You could have 20 different content creators in the exact same niche, all growing and monetizing differently.

[00:09:11] They could all have. Different platforms that they are using to grow their audience and connect with them. They could have different combinations of how they're making money. What I've done inside of Bold Fluence and what I've calculated is that there are 28 different methods and 28 different options for content creators inside of bold fluence to land on when it comes to monetary and audience growth.

[00:09:39] 28, and I'm not even covering all of them, right? Like I'm covering your basics. So just with your basics, there's 28 different options. So just because somebody is doing something one way, or just because somebody is creating messaging or pillar content in one way, if that doesn't align with your goals and what you are wanting to do.

[00:10:00] Then don't follow that advice and don't try to mimic what somebody else is doing. It is so crucial in this business that you are hyper-focused on what you want and creating success on your terms. I. So the third thing that I look at when a client feels stuck is monetization. Are you clear on how your content makes you money?

[00:10:26] And with that, does your audience know how to buy from you if you're selling something or how to support you otherwise? So if you're selling something, yeah, sure, we could go. Directly to digital products, but could they, do they see how to buy from affiliate links that you share? Do they know how to find them quickly and easily?

[00:10:44] Do they know how to go and purchase something that you're referring them to? Or if it isn't through a purchase, do they know how to support you otherwise? Do they know how to share your content? And also, are you creating shareable content? Do they know how important it is to comment? And are you creating engaging ways that will make them want to comment?

[00:11:10] Are they opting in to grow your email list? Are you sharing ways for them to opt in to grow your email list? It's not always about more content. It's not always about more, more, more, more, more. Sometimes it's a tweak in messaging or a shift in how you are showing up that is going to unlock the growth.

[00:11:32] And with all of this. What's the next step, right? Like, okay, I need to revisit these. I need to go through these. I need to actually sit down instead of like listening to Bri in my ears while I'm running and doing a million other things. Here's the crossroads. You can keep going and keep doing what you're doing.

[00:11:50] You're probably going to stay in the same spot, not grow very much, or you can pause. Refine and maybe pivot if it's needed. Quit thinking that you're going to fall behind if you pause. There's so many times that that is my advice to somebody. It's like, okay, slow down for a second. Let's strategize something.

[00:12:14] Sometimes it takes two days. Sometimes it takes one week. It doesn't often take much longer than that. Yes, sure. Sometimes we usually like, okay, let's tend the next 30 days. Really revamping, really revising, really editing things. But it doesn't always. But even if it does take you a few days or a week or two weeks, why do we think that if we pause, we are falling behind?

[00:12:42] I really wanna challenge that. If that's something that you've thought like, oh, I can't follow, I can't pause because of X, Y, and Z. Who says, who sets the standard for what? Falling behind even means we do. Right. You are an entrepreneur. You are your own boss. You are the only one that is dictating whether or not you are behind or not.

[00:13:10] I love following different designers and illustrators, especially on vlog style, form content for YouTube, and one of my favorites is. Coconut Natasha, and she is an illustrator and designer in Wales and they're always so relaxing and just lovely for me to watch. And she recently put out a video that was talking about how she just turned 31 and was feeling like she hadn't made it yet, like she wasn't successful enough yet.

[00:13:46] And. She talked about this in her video and really was like, you know what? I had to stop and I had to challenge myself. Like who says when enough is enough? Who says what's made? It means I do. I'm the one that sets that and look at all the things that I've gone through and look at all the things that I've pivoted.

[00:14:07] Look at the different life changes that I've gone through, and yet I'm still here creating this amazing content and building this business. It was such an amazing reminder because it is really, really easy for us to get sucked in to comparing ourselves and comparing our journeys to other peoples, and feeling like, oh, I need to be here.

[00:14:29] I need to do this. I can't pause because I'm gonna fall behind. My audience is gonna forget about me. I can't stop. It's completely false. It's completely made up. There is zero chance that you. We'll stop posting, let's say even for a month, and that you will come back. To zero followers on any platform.

[00:14:54] Studio DIY, Kelly Mendell is one of my all time favorite people to follow. She has been, she's like one of those OG bloggers who has been around forever and has been such an inspiration to me and my journey and such an encouragement. And there was a time, it's probably been close to two years ago now, but she took a solid break.

[00:15:21] She took like a three month time out and she let everybody know, but you can guarantee you when she came back, we were ready. We were there. We were there to support her and encourage her, and so excited to see her return. She didn't lose all our followers. She didn't tank her engagement 'cause we couldn't wait for her to return.

[00:15:48] So if she can do it, somebody who has been around in this industry for over 10 years is incredibly successful. If she can do it, then you can pause and look at these things, look at where you're feeling stuck, figure out a new strategy, and come back stronger than ever. There's simple ways to access where the actual gap is and where you're feeling stuck.

[00:16:15] So look at your metrics. Are you gaining reach but no sales? Maybe it's a monetization issue. Are your posts getting views, but no engagement? There's probably a disconnect in your messaging. Are you getting love from this same 50 or a hundred people over and over again, but nobody else? Then you've got some type of visibility bottleneck.

[00:16:38] So these are things that you need to pause and look at. If you're showing up consistently, but there's results still feel me, not great. I want you to DM me the word help. Just help and let's see what we can figure out together. You're amazing. You deserve to see success.

Why Consistency Without Clarity Leads to Burnout

The creator economy thrives on quantity. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube make more money the more we post. So of course, they encourage creators to crank out more content. But more posts don’t always equal more progress.

It’s easy to internalize the idea that if something isn’t working, we must not be doing enough. So we add more to our plate—more platforms, more formats, more frequency. But here’s the kicker: sometimes, more is the problem.

Before you pour even more hours into content creation, pause and ask: What’s actually working? Because there’s always something that is. And equally important—What’s just noise?

Yes, consistency builds trust. But trust alone doesn’t equal traffic, sales, or sustainability. If your content isn’t aligned with your goals or landing with your audience, all that effort turns into noise—and burnout follows fast.

The Three-Part Strategy for Getting Unstuck

When I work with creators inside my programs like Shift or Boldfuence, we always start with these three areas. They’re the foundation of sustainable growth.

1. Message That Lands

Your messaging is the first place to look if you’re gaining attention but not conversions. Ask yourself:

  • Do people instantly understand what I do and who I help?
  • Can someone new quickly see how my content benefits them?

Most creators over-assume what their audience knows. I’ve been guilty of this myself. I realized I was speaking to people as if they already knew me, already trusted me, already understood my offers. But every day, new people are finding your content—and you only get one shot to make them care.

Audit your bios, about pages, and captions. If someone new lands on your profile today, will they feel like they’ve found their person? Or will they scroll away confused?

Messaging isn’t just clarity, it’s connection. It’s the first “yes” in a long journey of building trust.

2. Purposeful Content Pillars

Next, look at your content pillars. Are you creating a healthy mix of content that aligns with your goals?

If you want to attract brand deals, your content needs to showcase that potential. If you're selling a course, your posts should establish your expertise and build desire. You can’t copy someone else’s content plan unless you have the same goals.

A client of mine inside Shift was crushing affiliate sales, but felt stuck because she wanted brand deals, too. When we looked at her content, it was clear: everything was optimized for one lane only. Brands couldn’t see themselves in her feed, and any branded content would feel jarring to her audience.

The fix? Introduce new content categories that spoke to brand values and storytelling. We didn’t start over, we simply added depth and direction.

Content pillars aren’t just themes—they’re intentional signals to the right people.

3. Monetization Awareness

Do your followers know how to support you or buy from you? Whether it's sharing affiliate links, buying your product, or joining your list, make the path easy and obvious.

The final question: Do your people know how to support you?

You’d be surprised how often creators are doing amazing work, but their audience has no idea how to buy, click, or engage meaningfully. Whether it’s affiliate links, a product, or a service, the path to support should be obvious.

You also need to ask yourself: Am I clear on how I want to make money? If your business model is foggy, your content will reflect that confusion.

Monetization doesn’t always mean selling harder. It means showing up smarter. Make it easy for your audience to say yes.

The Power of Pause

Here’s something that needs to be said more often: pausing is not falling behind. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your business is to step back, assess, and pivot.

I know it’s scary. You worry your audience will forget you. You fear losing momentum. If your current momentum isn’t going anywhere, pressing pause might be the smartest move.

One of my favorite creators, Studio DIY’s Kelly Mindell, took a full three-month break and her audience was waiting for her when she came back. Not only did she return refreshed, but her content had a new level of clarity that helped her grow faster than before.

You’re the boss. You get to set the pace. If you need to recalibrate, do it. Your future self will thank you.

Ask the Right Questions

To figure out where the real bottleneck is, start with your data:

  • Are you gaining reach but not seeing conversions? → Monetization problem.
  • Are you getting views but little engagement? → Messaging problem.
  • Are you stuck in the same bubble of loyal fans, but not expanding? → Visibility issue.

Consistency matters, but only when it’s paired with clarity and alignment.
