[00:00:00] It's Tuesday and you guys know what that means a thriving five episode. All right, we are diving into where to invest and what we're going to talk about specifically, you know, in this world where everyone seems to be a quote unquote expert at everything. I personally am always really cautious and always a little sus.

[00:00:26] Before I invest my money before I'm going to spend my money that I work my tail off for and hand it over to you for you to teach me something. I need to know that you are an expert in this. Why am I spending my money on you? So I wanted to share a few things that I look at before I invest. And hopefully these things will help you guys as you are making decisions for yourself, because as we've been talking about investing in education and coaching is something that can help you move forward faster and maybe further than you would get on your own.

[00:01:11] There's so much knowledge that we can learn from each other. So I highly recommend it and invest in it. Myself in different things throughout the year constantly. So that's why we got to just be careful with who we're investing our money and to make sure it's a wise investment. So I've got about three different things that I look at.

[00:01:33] First is how long have they been teaching what they teach? Are they brand new? Did they just pop up and make a gorgeous landing page? And it's a lot of fluff and not really any substance behind it. There are newbies popping up all the time, and there are plenty of new experts popping up all the time.

[00:01:57] It's just digging a little deeper to make sure, you know, Let me make sure they know what they're talking about. What kind of background do they have? All of that before I'm just like, Oh yeah, it's this new person who can maybe make a really amazing, beautiful landing page, but there's not a lot of substance behind it.

[00:02:18] So I like to look at how long have they been around or what their background is. The next thing I like to look at is why are they teaching? Is there somewhere where they talk about their passion for what they're doing? Or did they just decide to do this on a whim? The people that I want to invest in are obsessed with talking about what they teach.

[00:02:38] They talk about it all the time. They have lots of copy about it, perhaps on a website or on social media. They've got videos about it. Like you can tell that they are passionate about About their subject. So for example, if I'm going to hire somebody for SEO, I go to my girl, Danielle Gagnon, because I know that she is obsessed with SEO and there's a million reasons why I trust her.

[00:03:04] But one of the things is she's always talking about it. You can tell that she is passionate about it. She's passionate about her. Um, Clients seeing success. And that comes through in her podcast, in her social media, on her website, like you can tell she's passionate about seeing her clients have success and about seeing people in particular, get more page views using the strategy she teaches.

[00:03:32] So you want to look for something like that. The third thing I look at is what are they promising and do they have any testimonials? You know, sometimes it's okay to go in on a new coach or no program and they won't have testimonials because they're new or maybe it's a new program, right? And And I've been there.

[00:03:49] It's, you can't just make testimonials come out of thin air when you're starting. But if they don't have testimonials, what I want to see is I want to know what they're promising and how they're going to deliver it. So I want a little bit more in depth. I don't want any fluff. I want to know exactly what I am getting when I invest in you and what you're promising me is that I'm going to learn from you.

[00:04:13] So I want to give you guys an example. What about Thrive? You guys know we're obsessed with this. So we are founded in 2015 and we've never disappeared. So that's how long we've been teaching what we teach. Um, why are we teaching? We're passionate about seeing women succeed. We want to educate and empower as many bloggers and content creators as possible so that they have financial freedom and have flexibility in how and when they work.

[00:04:38] We're also obsessed with community and believe no one should go it alone and The road is just a million times harder when you have to go it alone. So we strive to foster community in every aspect of what we do. And that's why we're always telling you guys to come join us in our Facebook group, the thrive blogging community.

[00:04:56] And then what are we promising? You know, I just wanted to pull straight from our core values. And I wrote this down. I pulled it out. Every piece of content that we create is effective and applicable. It will always contain something you can take away and apply to your business and life. And you know what?

[00:05:13] Let me just keep reading because I wrote this back in July, 2018. And you know what? I'm proud to say we haven't strayed since. So we, this is what I wrote down in bullet points. We will offer training and actionable steps that you can take to reach your goals. We will motivate, encourage, and support you while you build your empire.

[00:05:35] We will not judge the size of your empire because your goals are yours alone. We will help you define what you want your goals to be and help you reach them. We will push you outside of your comfort zone and inspire you to be all that you can be. No fluff, no BS. We promise to remind you to do the work and be boss.

[00:05:54] And we genuinely care about you as a person. In order to be successful and savvy business owner, you must be healthy. Physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Um, I'm really glad I wrote that down back in 2018. If you haven't wrote down your core values, I highly recommend it. So consider those things when you go to purchase a course from someone or hire someone as a coach.

[00:06:17] And if you think you want to work with us, DM me over on Instagram at thrive together blog and say, Hey Bree, I need help figuring out my next steps. And I'll probably shoot you a fun little video message over there and respond. So I'll talk to you guys over there and we'll be back here on the podcast in just a couple days.
