"You will never regret investing in your brand. Because when you invest in your brand, you are investing in yourself. No matter how that looks, if it was a wonderful outcome, or if it was an outcome that you really weren't expecting or didn't like; at the end of the day, you are still growing as a person and you are still growing as a brand. And the best thing that you can do is to just finally go for it and invest in yourself."

What inspired Liz to start her brand?

In 2015 Liz and her husband had just gotten married and moved to central Florida. With the purchase of their first home, they quickly realized how expensive it is to furnish a home and hire out renovations. As newlyweds they didn't have a lot of money, so they got creative and started doing DIY projects that even included building their own furniture!

Having moved away from friends and family Liz wanted a way to share with them what they were doing! So her blog more or less started as an online journal for friends and family to follow along with their home renovation. Fast forward over seven years, with a whole lot of hard work and persistence, Liz has a profitable brand that allows her to work from home with her son.

How did Liz decide that now was the right time to join Shift?

As a business owner, and having her brand, Liz is constantly wanting to level up. But she felt stuck. Liz knew that she needed a Shift in her mindset in order for her to continue growing her brand and to level up. She loves the job that does! She loves to create content and share it in a way that thousands of people can join in the fun. But on the back end of it, the hard part of being a business owner (and more specifically a blogger and content creator) is not having a co-worker or mentor.

We don't have people we are seeing every day, that we can turn to and bounce ideas off. We don't have someone in close proximity saying "Hey, what are you doing to grow your business?" Or "I tried this on social media, did this work for you?" You're kind of figuring it all out on your own. So when Liz heard about Shift on the podcast, and everything that it has to offer, the expert reviews, the strategy calls twice a month, that was the moment. It was knowing she would be able to say, "Hey, Bree, I'm having trouble with this. What do I do?" and she will have help.

What has been your favorite part of the program so far?

Liz looks forward to every Sunday; when she gets that email from Bree saying it's time to turn in her item for review (which is part of the expert reviews). So far, like Bree has been able to go over Liz's media kit, she has received a blog edit, had some strategic review of her rates, and helped to edit where she is spending her time. Every Sunday, Liz loves to figure out what can she turn in, to level up her business to help her get focused! And within just a few days, she's getting that feedback from Bree. And it has just been one of the biggest helps for her with her brain this year.

Right now, it can be very easy to focus on mainly social media. And just within this past month, Liz has been able to take a step back and say, "Yes, social media is a very important part of my brand, and of my business. But I also have my blog, I also have these different streams of revenue, I also need to be more intentional and more strategic with my time". For Liz, on top of all these other things, the best part has been that because she's been more intentional with her time she is truly seeing her following grow. She's seeing her engagement grow. And she is seeing the views on her blog increase.
